David Thomas.
Practitioner first. Researcher because the practice demanded it. Advisor because both came first.
The record
David spent a decade leading technology at Astro, Malaysia’s largest media group — responsible for broadcast infrastructure, digital platforms, and large-scale systems, with annual technology budgets exceeding RM 500 million. A career spanning decades of large-scale technology infrastructure, from broadcast systems to artificial intelligence.
The research
In 2026, his paper “Formation Over Retrieval: The Living Reference as a Condition of Persistent Presence in Human–AI Systems” was peer-reviewed and published by Springer Nature in Lecture Notes in Artificial Intelligence (LNAI 16616), and presented at the 39th IEA/AIE international conference in Kuala Lumpur. The paper introduced the Living Reference methodology — a practical architecture for genuine AI presence — and offered it openly, because the methodology belongs to anyone who can use it.
The practice
The research is not theoretical. David operates a production six-agent AI system on his own infrastructure — running daily, holding a household, a financial record, and a growing body of research. He ships products: Golf Scoring Assistant is live on the App Store, built end to end. The methodology in the paper is the methodology in the machine.
The orientation
One question runs through everything — the systems, the research, the advisory, and the way each engagement begins: how can I help you? It is not a slogan. It is the operating principle, and it is why the most important technology BSCT builds is the kind that understands the person using it.
